OPTIMA Engineering: A Brand in the Middle East… Next Stop: Global Markets

Founded in 2001, OPTIMA Engineering has grown into a strong brand in the Middle East, exporting its products today to 40 countries worldwide. Starting its operations in the machine manufacturing and contracting sectors, OPTIMA Engineering has steadily expanded its global footprint with a clear goal: achieving the same level of success in other international markets.

OPTIMA initially entered the market by manufacturing security sector products for the domestic market. Although the company made its first export in 2004, it rapidly accelerated its international growth. Today, nearly 95% of its close to 20 different security-focused products are exported, reaching 40 countries, 15 of which are in the Middle East.

We spoke with İsmail Tamer Ülgen, Mechanical Engineer and Company Director of OPTIMA Engineering, about the company’s journey and future goals.

When did you lay the foundation of your factory in Başkent Organized Industrial Zone, and when was it completed?

We laid the foundation of our factory in Başkent OSB on August 27, 2015, and completed the investment in a short time, on December 30, 2015.

What is the total area of your production facility?

We operate in a 5,633 m² indoor production area.

What is your field of activity? What do you manufacture and what is your annual production capacity?

OPTIMA Engineering is a machine manufacturing company operating in three different sectors:

• Entrance control systems manufacturing, including turnstiles, barriers, hydraulic road blockers and bollards, sliding gate motors, and similar products

• Expandable hydraulic container systems, such as mobile hospitals, mobile living units, and mobile laboratories

• Waste shredding and recycling systems manufacturing

Are you operating at full capacity? How many people do you employ?

We operate at an average of 85% production capacity. Across our group companies in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, we employ 102 people of three different nationalities.

Do you export your products?

We export 98% of our manufactured products to 40 different countries. Our goal is to further expand and strengthen this export market.

Why did you choose Başkent Organized Industrial Zone? Would you recommend it to investors?

One of the main reasons we chose Başkent OSB is its disciplined management approach. We believe this industrial zone will not turn into an area of unplanned or illegal construction. Additionally, lower initial investment costs compared to other organized industrial zones provide a significant advantage.

What are your future investment plans?

We have recently completed our major investment. Moving forward, we plan to continue our growth through new machinery and equipment investments as well as increasing employment.
